THE WHAT? The Body Shop’s new owner, Aurelius is said to be preparing to offload parts of the ethical beauty brand’s international business. The Body Shop is reported to have signed an agreement to sell its mainland Europe unit and parts of its Asia arm to ‘an international family office’.
THE DETAILS According to a report published by Retail Gazette, financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The portion being sold amounts to 14 percent of external global sales and won’t affect UK operations or global head franchise partners.
THE WHY? The Body Shop told Retail Gazette that the sale is designed to free up resources, enabling it to focus on ‘strategically important markets’.
